Morgan Wootten stopped by camp today and I can't thank him enough. My camp has grown every year because I learned the foundation on how to run a successful camp from this legend. So humbled and grateful. What a great day for the kids!
Coach Wootten coached an amazing 1,274 wins during his tenure as Head Basketball Coach at DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, MD. His career winning percentage of .869 is the highest winning percentage of any coach with more than 500 wins in the history of organized sport. The prestigious Naismith Foundation has named Morgan Wootten the No. 1 Prep Coach of the 20th Century. And, on October 13, 2000, Morgan Wootten was inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame.

Ms. Plitt,

My son Andrew Davies has attended the basketball camp at GBHS for the past two years. I have three sons who have gone to numerous camps over the years. I have yet to come across one that has been as well run and positive as this one run by Coach Rudd and his staff of coaches as well as players. I am impressed by their enthusiasm and the teachable moments that I have observed. I am a former basketball player and alumni of GBHS. I am proud that Glen Burnie High school has such a program. Thank you for your support of this summer league. I know Andy will be back next year. We drive from Riviera Beach in Pasadena and car pool with three other children from the Buccaneers basketball organization. I will be sure to spread the word next season for the other players. Enjoy your summer.

HOOPS FOR THE HOMELESS TOURNAMENT A HUGE SUCCESS

by Aaron Gray
agray@digitalsports.com

Terry Bogle summed it up as a complete success that he wants to repeat in the future.

The former Glen Burnie High School boys basketball coach spearheaded the "3-on-3 Hoops For The Homeless" basketball tournament last Saturday at Glen Burnie High School. Along with the help from current Gopher coaches Mike Rudd, Jeff Sears and Brian Kellner, the event raised over $1,200 for the Arundel House of Hope.

"I think the kids really enjoyed it and we raised money for a good cause so it was highly successful," said Bogle, who retired from coaching at Glen Burnie in 1996 after 28 years of faithful service. "Because it was so successful, we want to make this an annual thing and we're looking to build in the future."

In the double-elimination tournament, 12 boys and girls teams competed. Entry fee for the squads included a non-perishable food item per player as numerous cash donations were also accepted. All proceeds went directly to Arundel House of Hope.

Prizes won by players included Under Armour shirts, The Rock basketball, Under Armour backpacks and bags. Tournament sponsors included D.C. Sports Clinic, the Wootton Basketball Camp, Michael's Eighth Avenue, Fireside Inn Restaurant and Roys Kwik Korner.

"We were very pleased with the results," Bogle said. "In the future, we're going to try to schedule the event until after the basketball season to get more people involved. This year was fantastic but we had to compete with other schools' Homecomings and the SATs."

For more information on the tournament or ways to donate, please contact Bogle at 443-306-9677 (cell).br>

For more information, contact Bogle at 443-306-9677.

Branden recently visited Coach Rudd at GB

Branden Albert.......once a Go-pher,,,,,,,now a CHIEF!

Published April 27, 2008
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs started their big draft with big men.
First, they used the fifth overall selection to grab Glenn Dorsey, a 297-pound All-American defensive lineman who helped lead LSU to the national championship.
Then they swapped their 17th pick of the first round to Detroit to inch up two spots and take Glen Burnie High offensive lineman Branden Albert, a 316-pounder who can play both tackle and guard. Albert, who didn't take up football until his junior year of high school, will probably be used at tackle. He is believed to be the first Anne Arundel County high school graduate to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft.
Branden led the Gophers to back to back trips to the basketball state semifinals
